We are excited to welcome new local instructors Carol McGarvey and Sharon Morse of Beauty and the Beads! They are going to teach us about Kumihimo through a presentation and a hands on activity! Plus they will bring a trunk show of their beautiful jewelry! I know I'll be leaving with some bling!

Information on the class is as follows:

  • Presentation: The History of Kumihimo from then to now
  • Practical Application: Carol and Sharon will teach three non-beaded Kumihimo braid patterns.
  • Students will receive prepared kits with cording and instructions to make the following Kumihimo braids, each approximately 2 to 3 inches long: Kongo Gumi, Edo-yatsu, and Yatsu-se
  • Kit cost for meeting is $22.00, which includes instructions and enough cording to make three 2-3" sample braids.
  • Start-up Kumihimo kits are available for an additional $22 (includes disc, bobbins, and gator weight). Please pre-order start-up kits by April 1.
  • If not purchasing the start-up kit, students must bring the following to the meeting:  Kumihimo disk, 8 bobbins, scissors, and 1.7 oz. gator weight.
  • Register for class by April 15 for the meeting.

Want to learn even more about Kumihimo? Sign up for out Saturday, May 4 event where Sharon and Carol teach beaded Kumihimo! Caution, signing up for the Tuesday class event does not automatically guarantee you a space in the Saturday class.

We hope to see you there!
